Dear Friends and Neighbors -

Our all-volunteer Whitethorn Fire Department (WVFD) needs your help in order to better serve you in an emergency. Each and everyone’s safety is our top priority, so let’s work together as a community to be prepared for an emergency.

 Here are some things you can do to help:

  •  Fill out and return the WVFD’s Community Questionnaire, so that we can best serve you, your family and your homestead in case of fire or other emergency. Questionnaires are confidential and available by mail or on-line at our website,  whitethornfire.org.

  • Consider joining the fire department. We need more trained and dedicated volunteer firefighters to join the team of experienced personnel currently serving our community. Training opportunities are available for those interested in becoming active volunteer firefighters and/or first responders with emergency medical technician (EMT) skills.

  • Consider joining our Board of Directors to help raise money and manage our department.

  • Join other community members in forming a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). More info is available at humboldtcert.com.  

  • Help organize a phone tree (NEST-Neighborhood Emergency Service Team) in your neighborhood. For more info contact Randy Brown, 707-986-9671 or Flowerpower663@gmail.com

  • Improve your home’s survivability in a wildfire by making it more fire-safe. The Living With Fire booklet is full of information and is free!  Available at the Whitethorn Construction Store.

  • Signup to receive emergency notifications from Humboldt ALERT at  humboldtgov.org/alerts  707.268.2500

  • Make a donation to your volunteer fire department!  We look forward to working together with you!
